For your newborn, use the cradle-sling position with head support for extra stability, and then convert it to the reclined support position for older infants. Love this tub!After trying two other tanks that were terrible, try it. Our daughter is 5 1 / 2 months and can remain quite well. It is about 18 pounds and very long, so that the legs is a big problem. It was found that other tanks trying not enough, nor very comfortable. She ended up with red marks on his legs and back of the tub the other, but it was wonderful! There is enough space for him to sit down and start playing, and there is still room to grow.
